Recycling/Environment
D.A.V. Thrift Stores are the Ultimate Recycler! The very nature of shopping at our stores and purchasing used goods is recycling! However, we don't stop there. Many items that are unsaleable are also recycled to reduce waste. We also recycle unsaleable textiles, shoes, purses, books, cardboard, metal, and plastic. In 2015, all stores combined to recycle over 3.2 million pounds of these materials keeping them out of landfills and reducing their impact on the environment!
Veterans
"Fulfilling our Promises to the men and women who served". That is the mission of the Disabled American Veterans and the D.A.V. Thrift Stores are the primary funding source for the Disabled American Veterans Department of Virginia. They are dedicated to a single purpose, "Empowering veterans to lead high quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by making sure veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America’s injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life."
Local Community/Economy
The D.A.V. Thrift Stores have been in operation for over 30 years! With eight locations throughout Hampton Roads, our stores have created jobs with benefits and provided quality goods at affordable prices to the local community. We now have over 240 associates and stock each sales floor with thousands of items everyday!
Do you have items to donate? We will pick them up!
